Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 13, 2026

One Second of 2026 ("we", "us", own1second.com) is a small service that lets you claim a second of the year 2026. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you claim a second, we store the name and optional message you enter, the second you chose, and the timezone you selected. This information is displayed publicly on your second's permanent page — that is the entire point of the product, so please don't enter anything you want kept private.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. We never see or store your card number. Polar shares with us only what is needed to fulfil your claim (such as a payment confirmation and the email you used at checkout, which we use for receipts and support). Polar's own privacy policy applies to the payment itself.

Technical data. Like most websites, our server logs receive standard request data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security and to keep the site running. We do not build profiles from this data.

Cookies and advertising

We may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com. Apart from advertising and payment, we set only the cookies strictly necessary for the site to function.

How we use your information

To display your claimed second, to process and confirm payments, to respond to support requests, and to protect the service from abuse. We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention and removal

Claimed seconds are intended to be permanent — that is the promise of the product. If you want the name or message on a second you purchased edited or removed, email us and we will help. Server logs are rotated automatically.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Contact us and we will respond promptly.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
